CBA – “The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.”
My friend, Robert, brings me treats. Some are baked goods and some are other items I might like to try. The treats are always interesting and delicious.
Today he brought some carrots. They were real baby carrots, not the whittled down adult carrots. They were beautiful.
My husband picked up a purple carrot and asked, “What’s this?” I told him it was a carrot and that carrots come in different colors just like people. It’s good to get out into the world and discover diversity. (How did I get on that train of thought?)
Fortunately, my garden, so far this year, consists of two pots of herbs. I have thyme and basil. The recipe on the side of the carrot bag said to toss the carrots with oil, fresh thyme, and a little salt and pepper. Talk about synchronicity! Or talk about politics or cleaning the garage or fertilizing the grass. You decide.
I roasted the carrots at 400 degrees for 20 minutes as instructed. They were tender and delicious. They were a great side for the chicken wings (April 16) I’m still trying to finish. Four pounds of chicken wings are a lot to eat!
Tomorrow I’ll stop and get a piece of pie for Robert. We have a coffee shop in town that makes old fashion pies with a lard crust and ample fruit. Robert loves pie. Exchanging little gifts is something Robert taught me. I think it’s about appreciating friends. Thank you, Robert.
