So who is going to read a blog about grapefruit! A goodly proportion of the population can’t even eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice because of the drugs they take. That just seems wrong. Almost as wrong as raisins.
For those of you who can eat grapefruit and are living with someone who can also enjoy this vitamin rich fruit, here’s a way to dress it up without too much trauma.
This lovely grapefruit half will soon be enjoyed with the gluten free muffins that are also on the table. To prepare the grapefruit you simply cut around the edge and then between the sections. I know. This might take you a whole minute and a half or even 90 seconds. Do it for the one you love. Maybe that’s you!
Before slipping the grapefruit into the broiler for a quick searing, spoon on a bit of orange marmalade. Then sprinkle on the slightest bit of brown sugar. This will take you right into the I-Love-Grapefruit club if you’ve been hanging back.
After the grapefruit and muffin consider having a sliver of quiche with a few strips of bacon. If you have this late enough in the morning you can call this “brunch”. That means the group is having only one more meal that day.
Sometimes it’s good to be the cook. It’s also good to have some snacks hidden around the pantry in case your not going to make it on two meals. You gotta do what you gotta do!
