“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in.”
I recently stumbled across a crackpot author who claims that people should eat only when hungry. I thought he was kidding! But he goes further than that. He said that hunger has to be earned. That means that a person must spend the morning doing some kind of work in order to get hungry. What kind of world would that be!
According to this theory, a person working in field gets more hunger credits than a person working at a desk. (I’m typing as fast as I can!) And right about noon, the time a person has accrued some hunger credits, would be about the right time for the first meal of the day, according to this author. People don’t, according to him, get any hunger credits for sleeping.
No, I don’t look this cute when I sleep.
But there’s more. This guy thinks that people should have only healthy food in their homes. He says to eliminate anything processed or anything that contains sugar. Excuse me! Therefore, he surmises, a person can eat anything they want, because there isn’t
anything good any food that would be unhealthy to eat.
The next step, according to this person, is to eat slowly, chewing the food forever. Finally, a person is to discontinue eating the moment the body borders on a feeling of satisfaction. That is somewhat before I begin to thank the powers-that-be for elastic waistbands.
Beverages! Can you take anymore of this? Only water. But he’s not completely heartless. He does cut coffee drinkers a little slack. A bit of diluted coffee is allowed if a person might do something crazy without their morning coffee.
OK. It really doesn’t seem that crazy or difficult. Going to try this and wait for the magic to begin? Today could be the day!
