“I just want to drink coffee and paint furniture.”
I think it’s simply a shame that humans have been led to believe that there’s a right way when it comes to decorating and/or art. Fortunately, I’m not one for such rules because I generally can’t understand what people are talking about or I’m too busy trying new stuff.
Years ago there was this dresser that someone was throwing out. It was a rather
cheap inexpensive piece with a blah maple finish. I liked the overall look of the piece and recently, I’d seen such pieces with amazing designs painted on the drawer fronts.
OK. This is not one of those. This is the maple dresser I was talking about. The cute little guy in the picture on top of the dresser is my husband when he was a cute little guy. Now he’s a cute big guy. But back to the dresser.
Did I skillfully paint the floral motif on the face of the drawers? Not on your life. I found a poster at a thrift store and cut it into strips to fit the drawer fronts. Then I painted the dresser and glued the poster strips in place. Finally, I sponge painted around the edges of the strips and put the handles back on the dresser.
I have another poster that I think would be dandy on a dresser front. Just got to find the right dresser. Then it will be play time again. It’s fun to play!
