COPPER QUILT

“The earth without ‘art’ is just ‘eh'”.

For my next trick…  One day my husband came home and found me painting a large piece of card stock.  Yes, I do all sorts of things with card stock.  I was applying metallic paints because I thought it looked good and because I’d received a package that day with some interesting packing material inside.  These things were all looking like a possibility to me.

When my husband asked what I was doing I simply replied, “This is going to be great!”  Sometimes I get really excited when I dash off in one direction or another without knowing exactly where I’m heading.

I ended up cutting the painted card stock into 2 inch squares.  Then I cut some black card stock into 2 1/2 inch squares to use as backings for the painted squares.  Then I found a piece of black card stock that was 32×21 inches.  These things, along with the packaging material and a glue gun, were the toys I chose for this project.  It turned into something I called Copper Quilt.  I took a crooked picture of it for this post.  Still working on the photography!

I even entered this piece into an art show and received an Honorable Mention!  I believe the entire piece costs under $10 for the materials.  Sheets of card stock were less pricey the year I made this.

Let me assure you that the vast majority of my creations don’t make it to my walls for display.  Let me also assure you that a portion of my culinary creations don’t make it to the “we should have this again!” list.  But it’s never too dull around here!
