“Socks are the #1 most requested item in homeless shelters.”

An ad showed up on Facebook.  No surprise there.  But this ad was for socks.  And in this ad they showed colorful socks.  I love colorful socks.

The short video told the story of two men who, finding out that socks were the most requested item in homeless shelters, decided to create wonderful socks.  They also decided that for every pair of socks sold, they would donate a pair to the homeless.

Their goal was to reach 1 million donated pair in some manageable time period.  I can’t remember what that time period was, but that’s irrelevant.  They reached that goal way faster than they anticipated.  They’ve now donated over 4 million pair and the number keeps going up.

Of course, I ordered a set of 6 socks in awesome colors.  Of course, I checked the mail box every day, impatient and full of anticipation.  And then the socks arrived and I ripped open the package and beheld the wonderful colors and the socks were the wrong size!  I needed a medium.  These were small.  Beautiful, but size small.

Somewhere during the ordering or the shipping process, something went horribly wrong.  Exchange something through the mail!?  I went to the company site and hit the button that would allow me to contact.  I poured out my angst.

In less than a day I got a reply from someone who said they worked on the Happiness Team.  She told me that my socks, in the correct size, were on their way.  Then added,  and this is a direct quote from her email –  “In fact, instead of having to deal with the hassles involved in sending them back, please feel free to share your socks with family members or friends. This way, someone gets the gift of a great pair of socks, you get the joy of giving, and we can possibly welcome another member of The Hive. It’s your classic win-win-win.”

I am so lucky.  One of my favorite people in the world has small feet!  Tonight we’re going out for dinner.  It will be an early holiday gift for her.

I’m going to order more socks from Bombas for myself.  I’m also going to become the mother/grandmother/relative/friend  who gives socks as gifts.  Happy socks backed by the Happiness Team.  Thank you, Bombas.

FOOTNOTE (Pardon the pun) – Bombas giveaway socks are now over 5 million, and rising steadily.  My correct socks arrived in less than 5 to 7 business days.  Great customer service.  Happy feet!
