MASHED POTATOES

“Mashed potatoes are the candy of vegetables.”

Every now and then my world needs mashed potatoes.  I do love them.  However, I am way too lazy to make them from scratch unless I mash them with their skins still on.  But sometimes I crave the creamy goodness of a bowl of old fashioned mashed potatoes.  And then –

I decided to try an instant potato product because the ingredients were nothing but potatoes and butter and salt.  There were no additives or chemicals with mono-syllabic names.  And best yet, the product was on sale!

Did you notice the word, Honest, on the front of the package?  What’s not to trust!  Wait.  Have I been watching too much national news?  Whatever.

Product critique – Lovely and delicious and a good platform for sauces, sauced meat, and gravy.  Also, did you know that if you add a generous dab of leftover mashed potatoes to a soup, the soup becomes a cream soup?

Other good news – once this product is mixed with boiling water, butter, and a cup of cold milk, I have to wait only 10 seconds before I stir and serve.  This is easy enough to have everyday.  Thank you, Universe, for spandex!
