“There are no rules to creativity.”  Laura Jaworski

After the holidays I have the custom to quickly re-gift items that don’t fit into my chosen lifestyle, but that someone else might enjoy.  This year I received an adult coloring book (the meditative kind) and some markers.  I asked a friend if her granddaughter might find a use for them.  She gave me an enthusiastic yes.

Less than a week later I found a thank you card in my mailbox.  The envelope alone was a piece of artistic wild abandon.  I could hardly wait to see the card.

The card inside was no less amazing.  It was everything I admire in an artist.  Sara, obviously, has a deep understanding of what it means to be fearlessly artistic and creative.  It has to do with joy.

Notification of an impending jail break!

Back to the world of adults – The least favorite things I hear from people are self deprecating statements, such as, I’m not artistic or I can’t draw.  Perhaps what we mean is, I might do it wrong and then I’ll be judged.  How sad to become stuck in a place overshadowed by rules, which are nothing more then socially agreed upon ways of being and doing.  Such a safe and boring place to live.

Sara is coming over this summer to see my art studio and hopefully, hold a class in artistic wild abandon.  I can hardly wait!
