Bank Teller – “Is there anything else I can do for you?” Me – “Do you clean bathrooms?”
Getting ready for the Chicago trip with daughter and granddaughters required a stop at the bank to let them know I’d be using my debit card out of state. When the teller asked where I was going she shared that she was from Chicago. She asked a number of questions about what we would be doing and what, exactly, we would be looking for. At that point the conversation got animated.
She recommended a restaurant, Lou Malnati’s, that served pizza with a meat crust for those eating gluten free. That would be two of us.
Meat crust pizza, late in the game.
She also told me about a free app for my phone, findmeglutenfree, that would list all the restaurants in the area that had a significant number of gluten free items on their menu. She enthusiastically gave numerous other tips to enhance our visit, obviously in love with her former hometown.
I was at the bank longer than the expected two minutes required to complete the business with my debit card. But I left with more than I’d hoped for. “At last,” I said. “A bank that’s really full service!” Got to go back and thank her. More about the trip coming up!
