“Nothing looks as good as healthy feels.”
Even though you didn’t ask – There are a few things I do in my kitchen that make perfect sense. These are far outweighed by the other things that I do. But we don’t need to go there.
Number one in the perfect sense arena is a takeoff on storing food in glass jars. It’s a way to store fresh produce in jars in order to keep them fresh for a longer period of time. It only requires that you give fresh produce a paper towel bonnet. That’s right. After you fill a jar with something like carrots, place a folded paper towel on top of the carrots.
Yes, it looks like this.
The reason for this topper is to get as much moisture as possible off the carrots. So step two would be to cover the jar and store it in the fridge upside-down. It would look like this.
Moisture from the carrot drips down and is absorbed by the paper towel. Your produce stays dryer and fresher. This also works with cooked and cooled produce such as broccoli or cauliflower. Also fresh salads. The excitement never ends!
If we’re going to be eating a lot more veggies, we’ve got to find a way to keep them at their best.
