I have this bad habit of dwelling on the negative. A life coach/friend mentioned this to me. Her cure for this habit was to notice when I’m nurturing a negative thought. Then, I’m to immediately call up three positive thoughts.
She said that this was especially important when the negative thoughts were about myself. I mentioned this ridiculous insight to my daughter who immediately said, “Yes, mom. You do that to yourself.”

I read a suggestion about brain inserts. Not an actual, physical insert. Rather, a mental insert. The suggestion was to think about people who love you. I could only think of two. Then I thought some more and a whole string of people came to mind.
Step two is to picture each person. Maybe picture a head shot of each person. Then, when a negative thought hits the fan, call up these head shots and insert them one after the other into your brain.
You don’t even have to do anything beyond picturing these faces. And it’s absolutely amazing.
I’m starting a collection of head shots. It’s better than my collection of clothes I no longer wear. Head shots take up way less space and do a whole lot more for my attitude!
