“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
I recently posted about a contest I had with my cat, which involved keeping him out of the guest bedroom. Unfortunately, the contest escalated into mayhem. I guess I was simply swept up in emotion of the game.
And then, a nice reader sent a comment wondering why I simply didn’t put a bolt on the door, with a second one on the inside for the guest to secure. Duh! Thank you, for the comment which didn’t end with the words, “You idiot.” I appreciated the insight and the kindness.
The before and after pictures.
I used a hook instead of a bolt because there were already holes in the door and the frame. Also, my husband suggested that he could simply fix the doorknob so it worked and we could all live happily ever after. He said he’d put it on his list.
As far as another hook on the inside I opted instead for a doorstop. Actually, it’s a large piece of rose quartz. I collect rocks. See, they do come in handy!
Last note – The quote at the top is from Mr. Rogers’ mom. It’s something she’d remind him of when there was any kind of challenge.
Post last note – There’s a new movie out, a documentary, about Mr. Rogers. I heard that anyone who needs a good weeping session might want to see it. I might want to see it a few times. I love Mr. Rogers!
