“And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.” John Steinbeck
Everyone’s idea of perfection is slightly different. And doesn’t that make for a more interesting world. On a recent stop at an unfamiliar restaurant my friend and I walked into a room of cookie jars. It seems that the owner of the establishment thought that cookie jars would be perfect for the decor. Every wall was covered with cookie jars.
We asked how many cookie jars were on display and were told that, actually displayed, there were about 2,500. But there were a couple thousand more in the basement.
Although that wasn’t my idea of beauty, I remembered that beauty had something to do with the beholder’s eye. I also reminded myself that that’s a good thing to remember when seeing people with tattoos, piercings, or clothing styles that don’t light my personal fire, says the lady with the purple hair.
I also reminded myself to take time to light my own fires without checking in to get permission. Waiting for permission is how the world gets beige. Colors, please!
One last thing. When giving some thought to dessert at this jarring restaurant, we discovered that they didn’t have cookies on the dessert menu. ???
