“Make sure you spend your time with the right people.”
Grandma Pat, are you still obsessing about belly fat! Get a life!
Well actually, my new diet is not about the weight I carry on my body. It’s about weight I carrying in my head. So I decided to take action.
About a month ago I decided to stop listening to the news. I also stopped listening to radio talk shows. I didn’t have to stop watching TV because I already took that out of my life a number of years ago except for the NFL. I love football.
Do you want to tell me how important it is to stay informed? Get in line. I’ve been chastised a number of times. In truth, I’ve never watched or listened to a news program and afterwords felt that my life was somehow better. Now, however, I have a lovely feeling of peace and calm that I didn’t have when I was ingesting news on a regular basis.
So what am I doing with my time? I’ve been spending hour upon hour every day in my art studio, playing and splashing around with paint. Things are coming together nicely out there. I’ve been cooking more. I love to cook. Cleaning? That hasn’t made my bucket list at this point. A bit more is getting done but I’m not obsessing about it.
So, as Mary Oliver asks, “What are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?”
