“I don’t read the newspapers, I don’t watch the news. I figure, if something important happens, someone will tell me.” Justin Trudeau
Yes, Justin! I have been newsless for over a month. It feels great!
And Justin is right. If something “important” happens …. “Did you know that Burt Reynolds died?” my husband asked me at lunch the other day. When I told him I didn’t know he said, “Well, there,” as if that proved some kind of point about my newsless lifestyle.
“I’m surprised someone didn’t call me,” I said. “Burt and I were like this,” I added, making the crossed fingers gesture to infer an intimacy. My husband, used to my sense of humor, ignored my response.
Then my husband went on to mention someone making a speech and someone else falling asleep and he started to get all worked up and started ranting and waving his arms and I said, “My point, exactly.”
So, what have I been doing with all my unsullied energy? I’ve been plugging my head with earbuds and listening to talks on YouTube while I play in my art studio. My favorite current activity is to draw a geometric design on a surface and paint in the different areas. Then, I generally paste a mirror or two or three somewhere on the design.
This creation is painted on a 24×24 inch piece of styrofoam. I finished it in about a week. The mirror in the center is reflecting my black top. I like metallic paints. They glow according to how the light strikes the piece.
If something important happens, give me a call. Leave a message. I’m out in my studio about 4 hours everyday. I’ll find the message when I come in to eat or read or nap with the cats. Life is good!
