“The mind can be a crazy monkey that is always trying to escape from the moment.” Rolf Potts
OK. Not too long ago I revealed that I no longer listen to or watch the news. I even gave up Facebook. Gasp! My energy now goes into my art studio. I’m creating about one piece a week. The pieces I love to do are designs that I draw, paint, and generally glue a small mirror in the center. I’ve already shared the piece I created in week one. Here’s the piece, almost finished, from week two.
Because my energy isn’t wasted trying to solve the problems of the world, I now spend hours everyday creating. I’m loving it. One problem. My mind.
It seems our minds are programed to think about problems or slights or just plain petty issues. I was determined to find a way to keep my mind off of the petty. My solution? Audio presentations. And best yet, there are a plethora of such audio presentation available for free. Where? Try YouTube.
Last week I searched on YouTube for a favorite author and was presented with one of their books which was over eleven hours long. This was enough to occupy my generally scattered head for a few days while I painted.
Our library also has audio books to check out for free. Not only are these books entertaining but they can also be instructive. Wow your friends with the facts you learn about the sex life of fruit flies! That’s almost as interesting as the national news they might be tempted to share with you. But that’s not going to happen.
My friends are on notice. No news is good news!
